Cowardly Lion from the Wizard of Oz

The park was purchased by the Chicago Park District in 1974 as part of the Lincoln Park Urban Renewal Area and officially named Oz Park in 1976. The Oz Park Advisory Council hired artist John Kearny in the early 1990's to create a Tin Man sculpture which was installed in 1995. The Cowardly Lion was next in 2001, Scarecrow in 2005 and finally Doroty & Toto joined the group in 2007.

Enjoy the day at this fabulous park which offers tennis courts, pickle ball courts, baseball diamonds and basketball courts. Don't forget to check out Dorothy's Playground (new and improved in 2025) and the Emerald Gardens.
